Charge your smartphone

Many people wonder why smartphones have shorter battery life than their older mobile phones. Well, the reason has to do with the fact that they can be used for so much. Your smartphone is actually a small computer – and computers require more power.

Shorter battery life

"With my old phone I only had to charge it once or twice a week! But my new smartphone needs charging every day!" This is something we sometimes hear, and indeed it’s true. Today's smartphones have  a shorter battery life than older feature phones. On the other hand, all you could do with a feature phone was make calls and text people. It’s the many possibilities your smartphone brings that draws power from the battery.

Unlimited possibilities

With a smartphone you can send and receive email, search the Internet, watch movies, listen to music, radio programmes and audio books, read newspapers, take photos and immediately share them with friends and family, order goods and services – and much more. Yes, all of this uses up your phone’s battery more quickly, but if you adopt a few simple habits you’ll find it won’t be a problem.

Charge every night

How can you avoid a “dead” phone when you really need it to work? The best way is to charge it often. Make it a habit to charge your phone in the evening or after returning home for the day. A fully charged phone will usually last a full day even if you use it a lot. Also, try to keep an eye on the battery indicator in the upper right corner. If below 20%, charge your phone for a while if you have the opportunity.

Bring a charging cable

No matter how careful you are about charging your phone, it’s always a good idea to bring a charging cable in your bag when leaving home for a longer period of time. If the battery runs down you can usually find somewhere to plug it in at libraries, cafés, restaurants and other public places. And a coffee break never hurt anybody, right? Many trains also have power outlets in or near the seats as well.

Desktop charger

A smart way to keep your phone charged is to use a Doro charging cradle. There’s no need to fuss with a charging cable. Just place your phone in the charger when you come home, and pick it up again on your way out. When placed in the charger, it can be used as a radio or an alarm clock.
